EXCESS GUMS

This is sometimes referred to as having a ‘Gummy Smile’ and describes when your gums are disproptionately showing when you smile. We have several options to help minimize this and they involve a combination of cosmetic dental procedures and gum procedures as discussed below.

We can fix those gummy smiles! When the upper teeth appear too short, periodontal surgery to remove excess tissue and lengthen teeth can correct a gummy smile. This can be achieved with either traditional surgery or with a soft tissue laser.

Often a gum lift or periodontal crown lengthening, can show the pearly whites that are hidden underneath, revealing your best smile!
